Alek M. Orloff

Alpine Waste & Recycling
Chief Financial Officer

Alek Orloff is the finance specialist for Alpine. He administers Alpine’s financing, cash management, accounting, reporting, tax, insurance, environmental compliance, HR, legal and information system functions.

Orloff was selected in 2009 as one of the Denver Business Journal's "Forty Under 40", a list honoring 40 Denver business leaders under the age of 40.  In 2008, he was recognized by the Denver Business Journal as one of Denver's "Outstanding CFOs".

As CFO, he manages Alpine’s capital structure, contributing to Alpine’s ability to maintain a compound annual revenue growth rate in excess of 40% since he joined the firm. He is in constant communication with shareholders and lenders regarding their stakes in Alpine and oversees all management and financial reporting. As a member of Alpine’s Board of Directors, he collaborates in setting corporate strategy and ensuring that capital is available for its execution.

Alek was appointed by Governor Bill Ritter in October 2008 as one of nine Commissioners serving on the Colorado Solid and Hazardous Waste Commission. The Solid and Hazardous Waste Commission is a regulatory board promulgating and enforcing State solid and hazardous waste regulations in concert with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The Commission also acts as a judiciary body to hear appeals of administrative environmental enforcement action penalties from the Colorado Administrative Courts.

Prior to Alpine, Alek worked as a senior consultant for Deloitte Consulting, LLP in Dallas where he specialized in financial modeling, emergency cash management, and mergers and acquisitions for over a dozen companies and their stakeholders. His clients included a $5 billion Belgian retailer and a U.S. grocery chain; and he worked on the restructuring of a large truck manufacturer in central Russia.

He also worked for The Festival Companies in southern California, where he analyzed property acquisition and redevelopment opportunities.  He evaluated over $75 million in acquisition targets and developed cash flow projections for over $100 million in development deals.

Originally from Portland, Oregon, he graduated with honors from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in Los Angeles with a Master of Business Administration degree, where he received the John E. Anderson Fellowship and served as a Teaching Assistant in Management Communications. He completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado College, graduating magna cum laude.  In 2010, Alek was elected to the Board of Directors of the Adams 14 Education Foundation, where he now serves on its Executive Committee.  He is married with three children and enjoys hiking, tennis, skiing, and traveling in his free time.
